Planning Begins for UW-Casper ‘Celebration of Excellence’

The University of Wyoming at Casper (UW-Casper) has established a “Celebration of Excellence” committee to plan the details of the upcoming reception to acknowledge students who are completing their studies.

If a student wishes to walk in a formal commencement ceremony, that will be held in Laramie and coordinated by the student through that campus.

The celebration committee consists of staff, faculty and students including: Rosalind Grenfell, Valorie Lyman, Dana Volney, Brooke Knabenshue, Rochelle McCoy, Theressa Smith and Sam Wiederrecht.

Students are invited to participate in the planning of UW-Casper’s Celebration of Excellence. To give feedback on the event that is in its beginning planning phase, go to Room 416 in the Union/University Building Thursday, Nov. 1, anytime between 3-4 p.m. A Zoom link will be available for those students who are not able to attend in person.

The next step for the committee is to secure a location, date and time for the Celebration of Excellence. As information becomes available, details may be found on the UW commencement website at www.uwyo.edu/commencement/.

For graduation, students have two options: a reception in Casper recognizing students who are completing their studies and award recipients (Celebration of Excellence); or a traditional graduation ceremony held at UW’s main campus for a formal graduation experience. Students can attend both activities or choose between the two.

Students and their families and friends who plan to attend graduation in Laramie are strongly encouraged to make lodging reservations at their earliest opportunity, as accommodations fill quickly. It also is important they stay attentive to university announcements on graduation deadlines and instructions for ordering regalia, parking and other details.
