Guest Pianist to Perform at UW Feb. 17

The University of Wyoming Department of Music will host guest pianist Adam Żukiewicz Sunday, Feb. 17.

He will perform at 3 p.m. in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts recital hall. The concert is free and open to the public.

Żukiewicz will highlight his debut solo piano album, “The Beginnings,” which includes compositions that present a story of intellectual freedom and the power of expression of the piano as an instrument of the musician-citizen. The program will include works by Beethoven, Chopin and Jacobus Kloppers, a South African-Canadian composer.

Żukiewicz is an assistant professor of piano at the University of Northern Colorado and a resident faculty pianist at the International Music Festival of the Adriatic in Duino, Italy. He received the 2017 Steinway & Sons Top Teacher Award, and he was an adjudicator of the 2018 Steinway & Sons Piano Competition.

A native of Poland, Żukiewicz is an internationally acclaimed pianist who has performed across Europe, the United States, Canada, Japan, Brazil, Hong Kong and Macau. As a soloist and chamber musician, he has performed internationally with renowned instrumentalists and vocalists.

He has performed in world-famous concert venues, including Carnegie Hall in New York City; the Kennedy Center’s Terrace Theater in Washington, D.C.; Palau de la Musica Catalana in Barcelona; Residenztheater in Munich; and Goldensaal at the Musikverein in Vienna.
