Amazon Executive and Former U.S. Ambassador from Wyoming to Speak March 8 at UW

Wyoming native Michael Punke, a vice president for global public policy with Amazon Web Services and a former U.S. ambassador, will discuss his insight on current trade and business trends Friday, March 8, at the University of Wyoming.

Punke, from Torrington, will share his expertise and insight on current trade and business trends, as well as the position of the United States in the world from 2-3 p.m. in the UW Berry Biodiversity Conservation Center auditorium. He has more than 25 years’ experience in international trade and regulatory issues.

Steve Farkas, College of Business assistant dean and MBA Program director, will moderate Punke’s talk. The event, free and open to the public, is sponsored by UW’s College of Business, Center for Global Studies, School of Politics, Public Affairs and International Studies, and the Office of Engagement and Outreach.

Punke served as deputy U.S. trade representative and U.S. ambassador to the World Trade Organization in Geneva, Switzerland, from 2010-17. Punke also wrote the book “The Revenant: A Novel of Revenge,” which was adapted into the Oscar-nominated film “The Revenant” in 2016, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, who won the Academy’s award for Best Actor, and Tom Hardy.
