Survey on UW Academic Calendar Open Through Friday

University of Wyoming students, faculty and staff have until Friday, March 15, to provide input to the committee charged with developing UW’s academic calendar, starting with the 2020-21 school year.

An online survey is open through Friday, focused on issues related to the length of the university’s winter break, and the importance and impact of the J-term.

For undergraduate students, the survey may be accessed at https://survey.uwyo.edu/TakeSurvey.aspx?SurveyID=l8LH87m3H.

For graduate students, the survey link is https://survey.uwyo.edu/TakeSurvey.aspx?SurveyID=m4LH884MH.

The staff survey is at https://survey.uwyo.edu/TakeSurvey.aspx?SurveyID=m4LH885MH.

For faculty members, the survey may be accessed at https://survey.uwyo.edu/TakeSurvey.aspx?SurveyID=m4LH886MH.

The calendar committee has been charged with recommending academic calendars for each of the three academic years from 2020-21 to 2022-23.

“The academic calendar is a surprisingly important feature of a well-functioning university,” Provost Kate Miller wrote in her charge letter to the committee. “The dates on which the fall and spring semesters begin and end, the choice of spring break week, and the length of the winter break affect our community and our students’ success in many and varied ways.”

The committee, which was charged with consulting with a wide range of stakeholders, will submit its recommendations to the Board of Trustees. The board is scheduled to act on the calendar issue in May.
