University of Wyoming Calendar for May 13

These are among the activities scheduled May 13-19 at the University of Wyoming:

Monday, May 13-Friday, May 17 -- Finals week for UW students.

Monday, May 13, 9 a.m. -- The Wyoming Center on Aging, based at UW, hosts its last health workshop for people with chronic health conditions and their friends, family and caregivers. The workshop will be at the Eppson Center for Seniors, located at 1560 N. Third St. in Laramie. Free.

Monday, May 13, 7 p.m. -- The Laramie Police Department will host a listening session as part of a national initiative to develop and improve response to gender-based violence. The effort is supported by UW campus and community partners. The listening session will take place in Coe Library, Room 506.

Tuesday, May 14, 7 p.m. -- UW Harry C. Vaughan Planetarium show, “Out There: The Quest for Extrasolar Worlds.” Tickets cost $3 for students and $4 for non-students, Physical Sciences Building basement. Advance tickets are available in the Physical Sciences Building, Room 204, or by going online at www.uwyo.edu/physics and clicking on “Planetarium Schedule.”

Thursday, May 16, 5 p.m. -- UW’s African American and Diaspora Studies will host a research symposium and graduation party at the Cooper House.

Thursday, May 16, 5:30 p.m. -- The Native American and indigenous graduation ceremony will be in the Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center.

Friday, May 17, 10:30 a.m. -- The Fay W. Whitney School of Nursing will host its Sigma Theta Tau induction in the UW College of Arts and Sciences auditorium.

Friday, May 17, noon -- The Marna M. Kuehne Foundation Veterans Services Center will have a graduation ceremony and luncheon in the Wyoming Union Ballroom.

Friday, May 17, 2 p.m. -- The Fay W. Whitney School of Nursing convocation will take place in the UW College of Arts and Sciences auditorium.

Friday, May 17, 2 p.m. -- UW’s School of Energy Resources graduation reception will take place in the Energy Innovation Center.

Friday, May 17, 3 p.m. -- The multicultural graduation ceremony will be in the Wyoming Union Ballroom.

Friday, May 17, 5:30 p.m. -- The UW College of Engineering and Applied Science convocation and professional obligation ceremony will be in the UW College of Arts and Sciences auditorium.

Friday, May 17, 8 p.m. -- UW Harry C. Vaughan Planetarium show, “The Science of Science Fiction.” The STAR Observatory on the rooftop of the Physical Sciences Building will be open to the public for a “star party” from 9-10 p.m. Tickets cost $3 for students and $4 for non-students, Physical Sciences Building basement. Advance tickets are available in the Physical Sciences Building, Room 204, or by going online at www.uwyo.edu/physics and clicking on “Planetarium Schedule.”

Commencement Ceremonies, Saturday, May 18:

8:30 a.m. -- College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, College of Business, College of Engineering and Applied Science, College of Health Sciences, Honors College and the School of Energy Resources, Arena-Auditorium.

10 a.m. -- College of Law, Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts.

12:15 p.m. -- UW graduate students from all colleges and schools, Arena-Auditorium.

3:30 p.m. -- College of Arts and Sciences, College of Education, the Haub School of Environment and Natural Resources, and Honors College, Arena-Auditorium.

7 p.m. -- Army/Air Force ROTC commissioning ceremony, Performing Arts Center.
