Local indie rock/country band Hunter Hicks and The Country Skillet will perform Wednesday, June 26, as part of the University of Wyoming’s Summer Concert Series. The event is free and open to the public.

The Laramie-based band will perform from 11:45 a.m.-1 p.m. on Simpson Plaza. UW Residence Life and Dining Services will provide burgers -- including a veggie option -- pulled pork, hot dogs, sides and drinks for purchase from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

Singer-songwriter Hicks has spent the last couple of years playing intimate rooms in Wyoming and Colorado. His debut EP, “Dead Birds,” was released earlier this month and contains six original compositions. Inspired by songwriters such as Townes Van Zandt and John Prine, “Dead Birds” is an ode to the tradition of songwriting, with an indie rock, country tone.

The Campus Activities Center’s (CAC) 7220 Entertainment sponsors the Summer Concert Series. For more information, go to 7220 Entertainment’s Facebook page or visit www.uwyo.edu/summerprograms.

Individuals needing assistance to attend this event should call the CAC at (307) 766-6340.
