The Lonesome Heroes, an indie rock and country band, will open the University of Wyoming’s Summer Concert Series Wednesday, June 5.

The series features a different band each Wednesday -- except July 3 -- through Wednesday, July 31. Performances will be from 11:45 a.m.-1 p.m. on Simpson Plaza. UW Residence Life and Dining Services will provide burgers -- including a veggie option -- pulled pork, hot dogs, sides and drinks for purchase. The Summer Concert Series is free and open to the public.

The Campus Activities Center’s 7220 Entertainment sponsors the concert series.

The Lonesome Heroes, an Austin, Texas-based band, will kick off the concert series. The group’s Laramie performance is part of its Mountain State Tour, taking place this month.

Described as a “cosmic Americana” band, The Lonesome Heroes have toured extensively behind two acclaimed albums. The Austin Chronicle praised the band’s sophomore album, “Can’t Stand Still,” as one of 2015’s best albums. “Western Style Saloons,” a track from that album, is an homage to small-town dance halls. It was featured on the final season of Netflix’s “Bloodline.” The band is working on its third album, “Rise & Fall.”
