Six sessions are planned in the fall semester for the University of Wyoming community to learn more about the LGBTQIA+ community.

Participants will learn about themselves, and about education, collaboration and advocacy through LGBTQIA+ Safe Zone training sessions scheduled Sept. 16, Sept. 30, Oct. 17, Nov. 4, Nov. 21 and Dec. 2. Free trainings will take place from 5-7:30 p.m., and food will be provided.

The Oct. 17 and Nov. 21 sessions will take place in the Wyoming Union Senate Chambers, while the Sept. 16, Sept. 30, Nov. 4 and Dec. 2 sessions will be in Room 203 of the Wyoming Union.

Safe Zone is a program geared toward creating an inclusive environment for the LGBTQIA+ community. It allows for introspection and thought on various aspects of the LGBTQIA+ community through discussion about tolerance and acceptance. Safe Zone educates individuals on issues related to the LGBTQIA+ community and provides the tools for participants to become allies.

UW’s Safe Zone offers a variety of training sessions that cover many topics, including inequalities in the everyday lives of LGBTQIA+ individuals.

For more information about Safe Zone, visit www.uwyo.edu/safezone or connect on Facebook or on Instagram.

Individuals needing assistance to attend events should call the Campus Activities Center at (307) 766-6340.
