Trey Duvall, an installation and performance artist, will visit the University of Wyoming Nov. 11-15.

He will give an artist talk Tuesday, Nov. 12, from 6-7 p.m. in Room 111 of the UW Visual Arts Building. UW students and community members will perform “Work Flow 004” in collaboration with the artist Thursday, Nov. 14, from 7-8 p.m. in the lobby of the Visual Arts Building. “Work Flow 004” will create an absurdist assembly line, exploring repetition, futility and fallibility. Events are free and open to the public.

The performance is in conjunction with Duvall’s exhibition, “Do, Do, Do, Do, Do,” which presents an evolving site-specific sculpture, “Spool/Unspool,” and a rotating frieze of video performances. His work concerns entropy, futility, humor, duration, stamina, and material or physical exhaustion. The exhibition will be on view at the UW Art Museum through Saturday, Nov. 16.

“During a public program last spring, we realized several audience members didn’t know what performance art is or could be. Trey Duvall’s residency provides a unique opportunity to witness and participate in performance art -- right here in Laramie,” says Katie Christensen, curator of education and statewide engagement at the UW Art Museum. “Come to the talk where you can ask questions, and return for the performance to see one example of contemporary performance art.”

For more information about the UW Art Museum, call (307) 766-6622, visit the website at www.uwyo.edu/artmuseum, or follow the museum on Facebook and Instagram.

The UW Art Museum collects, exhibits and interprets art to inspire creativity and nurture lifelong learning for the people of Wyoming. Located in the Centennial Complex at 2111 E. Willett Drive in Laramie, the museum is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday hours are extended to 7 p.m. Admission is free.
