logo

To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, several events are planned at the University of Wyoming this fall.

With support from the German embassy, UW’s Department of Modern and Classical Languages and UW’s German Club, Dahoam in Wyoming, sponsor “30 Years Fall of the Berlin Wall.” All programs are free and open to the public.

A mock Berlin Wall has been erected on Prexy’s Pasture. Students and others will be able to spray paint graffiti on the wall this week and then help tear it down with sledgehammers Friday, Oct. 4, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

The tearing-down event will include eyewitness accounts of the events that occurred Nov. 9, 1989.

Other events scheduled at UW are:

-- now-Friday, Dec. 13: Exhibits “Die Grenze verstehen” -- “Understanding the Border” -- and “Voll der Ostern” -- “Totally the East” -- on view on the third floor of Coe Library.

-- Thursday, Oct. 3, 7 p.m.: Screening of “Goodbye Lenin!,” Room 314 of the Classroom Building.

-- Thursday, Nov. 7, 7 p.m.: Screening of documentary on the Berlin Wall, Room 314 of the Classroom Building.
