UW Taps New AVP for Human Resources

An experienced human resources administrator has been selected as the University of Wyoming’s associate vice president for human resources.

Tom Koczara, who has been the senior human resources director with Roche Tissue Diagnostics in Tucson, Ariz., for the past decade, is scheduled to begin his duties at UW Jan. 13. He succeeds Jeanne Durr, who retired last summer.

“Tom will bring a wealth of experience and skills to the university -- skills that will translate well to a higher education setting,” says Interim Vice President for Administration Bill Mai. “We’re excited that he’ll be here soon to lead our strong HR team and work with units across campus.”

Koczara holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Illinois and a bachelor’s degree in finance from Michigan State University.

Before his decade with Roche Tissue Diagnostics, he held several roles with Microsoft Corp. in Redmond, Wash., and Toyota Financial Services in Chandler, Ariz., and Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
