University of Wyoming Calendar for Feb. 17-23

These are among the activities scheduled Feb. 17-23 at the University of Wyoming:

Monday, Feb. 17, 5 p.m. -- UW’s African American and Diaspora Studies presents Sheila Radford-Hill, chief diversity officer at Dominican University. She will discuss “What’s Feminism Got to Do with It?” in Coe Library, Room 506. Dinner will be provided. Free.

Monday, Feb. 17, 7 p.m. -- UW’s 7 x 9 Improv Club will host a show in the Wyoming Union Family Room. Free.

Tuesday, Feb. 18-Thursday, Feb. 20, 11 a.m.-9 p.m. -- UW Libraries will host a “Vintage Technology Petting Zoo” that displays items that are pre-2000. Items include cassette players, typewriters, gaming systems, a VHS player and floppy discs. Retro video gaming stations will be set up Wednesday, Feb. 19. The petting zoo and the video gaming stations will be near the Coe Student Innovation Center, located in Coe Library, Room 233. Free.

Tuesday, Feb. 18, 4:30 p.m. -- The Wyoming Technology Business Center, based at UW, will host an e2e Wyoming meeting at Bond’s Brewing Co., located at 411 S. Second St. in Laramie. E2e Wyoming is an educational networking program for entrepreneurs.

Tuesday, Feb. 18, 5:30 p.m. -- Istvan Szekely, an EU Fellow at the Colorado European Union Center of Excellence at the University of Colorado-Boulder, will discuss “Global Economic Resiliency or Another Great Recession?” His talk will take place in the UW College of Business Building, Room 123. The UW School of Politics, Public Affairs and International Studies and the UW Department of Economics sponsor the talk. Free.

Tuesday, Feb. 18, and Wednesday, Feb. 19, 7 p.m. -- Outdoor adventure films will be screened during the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour in the UW College of Arts and Sciences auditorium. UW’s 7220 Entertainment and the Outdoor Program host the event. Free.

Wednesday, Feb. 19, 9-11:30 a.m. -- The Wyoming Center on Aging, based at UW, will host Healthy U, a health workshop for people managing chronic pain and their friends, family and caregivers. Wednesday, Feb. 19, 6 p.m. -- UW’s Coe Student Innovation Center will host PokeBot V2.01. The event will feature three UW presenters, live music and networking in the center, located in Coe Library, Room 233. Free.

Thursday, Feb. 20, 7 p.m. -- StudioWYO will host De Gringos Y Gremmies, a surf-rock band, and YOTP, a Cheyenne-based rock band, in The Gardens, located in the lower level of the Wyoming Union. Free.

Thursday, Feb. 20, 7:30 p.m. -- The UW Chamber Orchestra presents “Baroque Alchemy” in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts concert hall. Tickets cost $12 for the public, $8 for senior citizens and $6 for students.
