Chilled Water Supply, Return Lines Installed on UW Campus Beginning This Week

June 15, 2020

Beginning this week, University of Wyoming Operations, in coordination with Laramie’s Big Huhnks Excavation, will begin installing new chilled water supply and return lines on a portion of campus.

The project extends from the northwest corner of Student Health/Cheney International Center, along the north side of Merica Hall to the southeast corner of the Biological Sciences Building. Work is expected to continue throughout the summer. The project will require chilled water shutdowns for Knight Hall, Student Health and the Biological Sciences Building.

The shutdown for Knight Hall and Student Health is expected to begin the week of June 22, and will continue for one or two days. The shutdown for the Biological Sciences Building is anticipated to begin in late July or early August, and will extend for approximately one to two weeks.

The project also will result in the closure of vehicle access between the Biological Sciences Building and Old Main. Motorists are urged to seek an alternate route for access to buildings in the area.

“Please be observant of all pedestrian and traffic controls, and also use caution near crews and equipment,” says Randy Layton, a design engineer with UW Facilities Engineering.
