UW Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Offers Town Hall Nov. 10

A “Black Fatigue and Being Committed Allies for Systemic Change” town hall, sponsored by the University of Wyoming’s Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, is scheduled Tuesday, Nov. 10, at 1:30 p.m.

The town hall is based on the book “Black Fatigue: How Racism Erodes the Mind, Body and Spirit” by Mary-Frances Winters. Free copies of the book are available to participants on a first-come, first-served basis. The event also is based on a LinkedIn Learning webinar, titled “Inclusive Mindset for Committed Allies,” by Dereca Blackmon. This webinar is available to all UW employees and students on UW’s Employee LearnCenter through LinkedIn Learning.

Panelists for the latest town hall are:

-- Mohammed Bey, the chief officer for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College.

-- Nicholas Crane, a UW assistant professor in the School of Politics, Public Affairs and International Studies, and chair of the UW Black Lives Matter/Systemic Racism subcommittee.

-- Ty-Ron Douglas, an associate professor of educational leadership and policy analysis at the University of Missouri-Columbia.

-- DaNine Fleming, an associate professor and director of training and intercultural education at the Medical University of South Carolina.

-- Moderator Emily Monago, UW chief diversity officer in the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

-- Lay-nah Blue Morris-Howe, a UW assistant professor in the School of Counseling, Leadership, Advocacy and Design.

-- Rachel Ratliff, a UW doctoral candidate in the School of Counseling, Leadership, Advocacy and Design.
