Wyoming Summer Flute Intensive Recital June 9 at UW

Faculty and student teaching assistants in the Wyoming Summer Flute Intensive will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 9, in the University of Wyoming Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts recital hall. The program is free and open to the public.

The program will feature flute music spanning five centuries and from around the world in mixed solo, duo and quartet ensembles. The concert also will livestream at https://youtu.be/zoZXKUm74I8.

Performing will be Nicole Riner, visiting assistant professor of flute and music entrepreneurship in the UW Department of Music; Brittany Trotter, from the University of the Pacific’s Conservatory of Music in Stockton, Calif.; and UW students Ashlie Gold, a flute performance junior from Green River, and Lucas Regnell, a Laramie music education senior.

Riner, who is praised for her “luscious, full sound” (American Record Guide) and “effortless precision” (Flutist Quarterly), maintains an active national presence as a recitalist and pedagogue. She has recorded for ACA Digital Recording, Albany Records and Centaur Records and maintains a blog for flutists of all ages. She also performs exclusively on Altus flutes and is an Altus Performing Artist.

Trotter, a prize-winning artist, has a diverse career as an educator, soloist and collaborator. A native of Laurel, Miss., Trotter has received music degrees from UW, the University of Southern Mississippi and West Virginia University.
