UW Revamps UWYO Roundup Transit Services

Updates to UWYO Roundup, the University of Wyoming’s transit system, include extended hours and a new app now in effect.

Two fixed-route shuttles -- Express and Link -- operate Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m.

The Express shuttle runs every 10 minutes and services the Express parking lots and the Wyoming Union. The shuttle also makes stops at the Classroom Building, Science Initiative Building, George C. Frison Building (formerly called the Anthropology Building), McWhinnie Hall, Arena-Auditorium and Animal Science/Molecular Biology Complex.

The Link shuttle runs every 20 minutes and services Walmart, Laramie County Community College’s Albany County campus, Spanish Walk, the Early Care and Education Center, Lodgepole Lane, the Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center, residence halls, the Wyoming Union and downtown Laramie.

For efficiency, buses will only stop when a request has been made or a passenger is waiting to board. Riders on all buses must request their stops by pulling the yellow cord in each bus 30 seconds before they would like to exit.

Riders are encouraged to download the TransLoc app to track buses in real time, view the most up-to-date bus routes and hours of service, and get system announcements.

The SafeRide service replaces what was known as LaramieLink Dial-A-Ride. The service now has extended hours. SafeRide operates Monday through Friday from 6:30 p.m.-2 a.m.; Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 a.m.; and Sunday from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. SafeRide will pick up and drop off riders anywhere in Laramie city limits at no charge.

The updated service includes a new app. The UWYO SafeRide app allows users to request rides, track their vehicles and receive system announcements. For more information, go to www.uwyo.edu/tps/transit/saferide.html.

“Use SafeRide instead of walking alone in the dark, after a late-night study session at the library, for a midnight Walmart run and so much more,” says Paul Kunkel, director of UW Transportation Services.
