Registration is still available for those who missed the 2022 Wyoming Blockchain Stampede and WyoHackathon featuring the Wyoming Cybersecurity Conference Sept. 19-23 at the University of Wyoming.

Recordings of presentations are available to view for anyone who attended the conference. But, if you missed speakers at the Wyoming Blockchain Stampede, including the cybersecurity track, free registration is still open through Oct. 11 to view the recordings at www.fbcinc.com/e/wyblockchainstampede. Registrants will receive an email authorizing access to the video. Check email spam folders if a confirmation email isn’t received.

“From the 307 Startup Challenge to the closing keynote address by Charles Hoskinson, world-renowned entrepreneurial and tech innovator, the Wyoming Blockchain Stampede provided attendees with topical information and insights into digital assets in Wyoming and the world,” says Steve Lupien, director of the UW Center for Blockchain and Digital Innovation.

Among featured speakers were Hoskinson, an American entrepreneur who is a co-founder of the blockchain engineering company Input Output Global Inc.; Commissioner Hester Pierce, U.S. Security and Exchange Commission; Commissioner Peter Feldman, U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission; Caitlin Long, founder and CEO of Custodia Bank; Julie Hill, visiting UW and University of Alabama law professor; state Sen. Chris Rothfuss, D-Laramie, co-chair of the Legislature’s Select Committee on Blockchain, Financial Technology and Digital Innovation Technology; Tyler Lindholm, state policy director, and Chris Land, general counsel, of Wyoming U.S. Sen. Cynthia Lummis’ office; and Gov. Mark Gordon.

The Wyoming Blockchain Stampede was sponsored by IOHK, and the 307 Startup Challenge was sponsored by Blue Ocean.

The Wyoming Cybersecurity Conference featured the theme “It’s All About Identity.” Cyber psychologist Erik Huffman, founder of Handshake Leadership, presented research findings about why people make decisions that leave them vulnerable to identity theft. Other speakers were Derek Booth, special agent, Mountain West Cyber Fraud Task Force, U.S. Secret Service; Shawn Reese, executive director, Wyoming Humanities; and Daniel Conway, a biometrics researcher, professor and associate director at the University of Arkansas’ Blockchain Center of Excellence. The conference was supported by Microsoft.

“Our speakers this year provided insight into how we can protect our identity, which is a foundation of good cybersecurity practice, whether it’s small business or the metaverse,” says Laura Baker, executive director of the Wyoming Cybersecurity Alliance.

Those interested in the meeting of the Wyoming Legislature’s Select Committee on Blockchain, Financial Technology and Digital Innovation Technology that was held Sept. 19-20 at UW to kick off the stampede can view the morning and afternoon sessions on YouTube at www.youtube.com/c/WyomingLegislature.

All Wyoming Blockchain Stampede and Wyoming Cybersecurity Conference videos also will be posted later on YouTube.
