UW, Wyoming SBDC Network to Host Webinar on Situational Awareness, Threat Detection

Small-business owners can receive an introduction to the skills and knowledge pertinent to situational awareness and identifying preincident indicators of violence in the workplace.

Russell Clark, a retired, active-duty U.S. Army veteran, will discuss the process of sense-making, crisis decision-making and how having a bias for action saves lives during a Wyoming Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network webinar titled “Situational Awareness and Threat Detection for Business Leaders” Thursday, Dec. 8, from 2-3 p.m. To register, go here. Registration is free.

At the end of this webinar, participants will have a basic understanding of the principles and concepts of situational awareness and threat detection. Participants will understand how to apply the principles in the workplace to predict a future violent event and decide on actions to avoid, deter or mitigate the violence.

Clark has 10 years of experience as an instructor and training coordinator for the Wyoming Homeland Security training program. He has coordinated and instructed state homeland security training for Wyoming first responders, including government agencies and private sector response organizations, in such subjects as site protection through observational techniques, terrorism indicators, criminal extremist groups and officer intelligence as it relates to terrorism.
