State, national and international media frequently feature the University of Wyoming and members of its community in stories. Here is a summary of some of the recent articles:

Inside Higher Ed reported that members of the UW Board of Trustees and Faculty Senate reached an agreement on the board’s proposed changes to institutional regulations. The board will vote on the updated regulations in July.

Civil Eats reported on “Inside the Push to Bring Racial Equity to Land Grant Universities” and detailed how some are addressing the issue. The work of UW Associate Professor Christine Porter -- the principal investigator on projects focused on food dignity and growing tribal food resilience -- was highlighted.

Mary Aguayo, UW’s director of transfer relations, wrote a successful grant application to the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE) making Wyoming one of three states to participate in WICHE’s task force on closing postsecondary attainment gaps, according to The Wyoming Tribune Eagle.

The Boomerang reported that UW officials are exploring several avenues to become less reliant on state funds.

Chad Baldwin, UW associate vice president for communications and marketing, discussed with Sheridan Media the university’s receipt of a $9.77 million award to study the feasibility of storing 50 million tons of carbon dioxide underground near Gillette. The Casper Star-Tribune (CS-T) published a similar article.

Sweetwater Now published, on its website, UW’s release announcing that transit bus operator Jody Sullivan will represent Wyoming at this week’s Community Transportation Association of America National Bus Roadeo in Pittsburgh, Pa. Sullivan was the state winner. High Beam Research also published the release.

Gary Crum, Western States Bank chairman and CEO from Laramie, was named distinguished alum of UW’s College of Business, according to Wyoming Business Report.

Sweetwater Now published UW’s release announcing that “The Hangover” actor Ken Jeong will perform a stand-up comedy routine this fall at the College of Arts and Sciences auditorium.

A legislative task force spent two days on the UW campus last week hearing testimony from international experts and reviewing blockchain initiatives and laws from across the U.S. and United Kingdom, The Boomerang reported.

UW men’s basketball Coach Allen Edwards spoke with The CS-T about former Cowboys standout Larry Nance Jr. His team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, is playing the Golden State Warriors for the NBA championship.

WyoSports reported that UW sophomore runner Chris Henry, from Laramie, was named a Google Cloud Academic First Team All-District Men’s Track and Field/Cross Country honoree. He has a grade-point average of 4.0 in molecular biology and physiology.

UW senior guard Justin James is returning to the Cowboy basketball team for his final collegiate season, reported KOWB Radio. He filed paperwork to withdraw his name from the NBA Draft.
