UW in the News

State, national and international media frequently feature the University of Wyoming and members of its community in stories. Here is a summary of some of the recent articles:

UW trustees will vote on regulations concerning the university’s governance during the board’s meeting this week, The Casper Star-Tribune reported. Other regulations to be considered deal with financial decisions, budget constraints, appeal procedures and the elimination or reorganization of academic programs.

K2 Radio reported that construction of UW’s $100 million Science Initiative Building will begin next spring, with completion by early 2021.

The Laramie Boomerang noted that Laramie PrideFest drew to a close last weekend with a candlelight vigil to honor the memory of slain UW student Matthew Shepard.

UW’s ACRES (Agricultural Community Resources for Everyday Sustainability) was featured in The Greenwich Times. ACRES is a 1.8-acre, student-run farm that promotes local agriculture and sustainable growing methods.

Laramie Live reported that UW’s Ann Simpson Artmobile hosted a Laramie Jubilee Days Parade costume-making workshop last weekend.

UW and the Wyoming Game and Fish Department have produced a survey to better understand Cowboy State citizens’ feelings and perspectives about the advancements in hunting technology, reported Sweetwater Now.

The Boomerang featured UW’s Dining Services, which is providing daily meals to firefighters battling the Badger Creek fire in the Snowy Range.

UW Assistant Professor Scott Henkel and David Jewell, associate vice president for budget and institutional planning, discussed with Wyoming Public Radio the importance of making the university accessible to all students.

The Week, an online news magazine, republished a story quoting UW economist Rob Godby regarding how Wyoming wind can generate enough electricity to power California.
