State, national and international media frequently feature the University of Wyoming and members of its community in stories. Here is a summary of some of the recent articles:

The Consensus Revenue Estimating Group predicted that Wyoming will see a large increase in revenue in the current 2019-2020 biennium, but UW economist Rob Godby cautions that the uptick could be short-lived, noted The Wyoming Tribune Eagle.

The Laramie Boomerang reported that, to improve the College of Education, UW will need $18 million to $20 million in initial funding to overhaul the state’s system of producing teachers. Dean Ray Reutzel says funds are needed to implement UW’s Trustees Education Initiative that will produce quality teachers.

Reliable air service from a rural community to a large hub, like Denver or Salt Lake, means much more to local businesses, UW economist Rob Godby says in a Casper Star-Tribune (CS-T) article. Gillette business owners said that improved airline services would help the economy recover.

The Billings Gazette noted that the UW Board of Trustees will consider creating a new major in construction management during this week’s meeting. Dubai News Today reported that UW’s Eric Nigh and Anthony Ogden were among the Knowledge Exchange Institute’s faculty steering committee that met with officials from American University of Ras Al Khaimah to explore possible student exchange programs with U.S. universities.

UW Professor Jim King was quoted in a China Daily article noting the significance of Mike Yin being elected the first Asian legislator in Wyoming. Yin will represent Teton County.
