Alumni honorees include Alan Knapp, a globally recognized rangeland ecologist whose research has been cited more than 48,000 times; Wes Watson, a livestock entomologist whose cattle lice research still shapes FDA protocols today; and Dorothy "Dolly" Watson, whose pioneering work on arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi advanced the understanding of soil health and plant nutrition. Western EcoSystems Technology, Inc. (WEST) was recognized as an outstanding corporate partner for decades of research collaboration and employment of UW alumni.
