This is the first in a series of bulletins focused on research, teaching, and extension at the Rogers Research Site, a 320-acre property in the Laramie Mountains that Colonel William C. Rogers bequeathed to the University of Wyoming in 2002. Rogers Research Site Bulletin 4: Vegetation Mapping of Rogers Research Site, north Laramie Mountains, Wyoming, Using High Spatial Resolution Photography and Heads-Up Digitizing

This is the fourth in a series of bulletins focused on research, teaching, and extension at the Rogers Research Site (RRS), a 320-acre property in the Laramie Mountains that Colonel William C. Rogers bequeathed to the University of Wyoming in 2002. RRS Bulletin 4 details a 2006 vegetation mapping project of RRS using high spatial resolution photography and heads-up digitizing. Since this project was completed prior to the 2012 Arapaho Fire, which burned the majority of ponderosa pine and other vegetation across nearly 100,000 acres, including RRS property, the vegetation map will help researchers, land managers, and others assess temporal changes in habitat structure and land cover within RRS and adjacent lands.

Rogers Research Site Bulletin 5: Restoration of ponderosa pine following high-intensity fire, Rogers Research Site, north Laramie Mountains, Wyoming

This is the fifth in a series of bulletins focused on research, teaching, and extension at the Rogers Research Site (RRS), a 320-acre property in the Laramie Mountains that Colonel William C. Rogers bequeathed to the University of Wyoming in 2002. In 2012, during an extreme drought, the high-intensity Arapaho Fire burned the majority of ponderosa pine and other vegetation across nearly 100,000 acres in the Laramie Mountains, including the RRS property. In 2014, a UW student-faculty team started a study focused on the best management practices to restore the ponderosa pine forest at RRS and surrounding lands. RRS Bulletin 5 presents early findings from this ongoing research, which will contribute to the building knowledge base of post-fire ponderosa pine restoration across the western United States.

This is the sixth in a series of bulletins focused on research, teaching, and extension at the Rogers Research Site (RRS), a 320-acre property in the Laramie Mountains that Colonel William C. Rogers bequeathed to the University of Wyoming in 2002. RRS Bulletin 6 details a soils inventory and mapping project that began in 2009 and continued after the 2012 Arapaho Fire, which burned nearly 100,000 acres in the Laramie Mountains, including RRS lands. This bulletin provides important baseline data for future studies at the site and surrounding lands that will be carried out by UW faculty and staff members, undergraduate and graduate students, and others.

This is the seventh in a series of bulletins focused on research, teaching, and extension at the Rogers Research Site (RRS), a 320-acre property in the Laramie Mountains that Colonel William C. Rogers bequeathed to the University of Wyoming in 2002. Bulletin 7 details a study that compares soil characteristics at RRS before and after the 2012 high-intensity Arapaho Fire, which burned nearly 100,000 acres in the north Laramie Mountains, including RRS lands. One of the goals of this ongoing research is to examine ecological impacts of the burn. Preliminary results show marked soil chemical and biotic changes following the fire.

Rogers Research Site Bulletin 8: Soil Amendment Addition and Microbial Community Recovery Following High-Severity Fire at Rogers Research Site, north Laramie Mountain, Wyoming

This is the eighth in a series of bulletins focused on research, teaching, and extension at the Rogers Research Site (RRS), a 320-acre property in the Laramie Mountains that Colonel William C. Rogers bequeathed to the University of Wyoming in 2002. Bulletin 8 investigates the effectiveness of soil amendments (compost tea, ‘traditional’ compost, and ammonium nitrate fertilizer) for re-establishing the soil microbial community and hastening the recovery of RRS and surrounding lands to a healthy successional environment following the 2012 high-severity Arapaho Fire.
