Jessica was born and raised in Rock Springs, Wyoming. After graduating from high school, she joined the US Navy and served four years on the carrier USS Ronald Reagan CVN-76, working as an Aviation Support Equipment Technician. During her time in the military, she was deployed once and spent time in Washington, California, South Korea and Japan to name a few places. Afterward, Jessica moved to Salt Lake City, Utah where she earned her bachelor's degree in kinesiology at the University of Utah. It was during these years where her passion for medicine grew as she spent a majority of her time working in research trying to understand how retinal circuitry changes in degenerative diseases such as retinitis pigmentosa. In her free time she enjoys traveling, snowboarding, exercising, and spending time with family.
