    $2.5M gift to UW Supports Future of Wyoming Ranching

    A Wyoming ranching couple’s $2.5 million gift to the University of Wyoming will empower the university’s Ranch Management and Agricultural Leadership Program, fueling impactful change and supporting future leaders in ranch management and agriculture statewide.

    The transformational gift was given by Art and Catherine Nicholas, Wyoming ranchers and investors who own Wagonhound Land & Livestock near Douglas. It creates the Wyoming Ranching Excellence Fund at the UW College of Agriculture, Life Sciences and Natural Resources and was doubled to $5 million by a state matching investment from the Wyoming Legislature.

    Two UW Professors Receive 2024 Stewardship Awards

    Two University of Wyoming faculty members have earned the prestigious UW Foundation Stewardship Award for 2024. They are Mark Guiberson, head of the Division of Communication Disorders, and Joe Carver, director of Western Thunder Marching Band. The UW Foundation Stewardship Award recognizes the leadership of UW faculty members who excel in the relationship-building and stewardship of alumni and donors through effective use of private gifts, engaging former students in the activities of the university and a commitment to strong external relationships for the betterment of UW.

    Student Teams Win UW Ellbogen $50K Competition

    Teams of student entrepreneurs won prizes to advance their business ideas during the recent 24th annual John P. Ellbogen $50K Entrepreneurship Competition at the University of Wyoming. The College of Business competition encourages students to act on their talents, ideas and energy to produce tomorrow’s leading businesses. Teams were eligible to receive funding from the endowed prize ($50,000), the Top Submission Awards (three categories) and the High School Choice Award. Additionally, during the college’s SparkTank event April 25, three other awards were provided: the Ethical Startup Award, the Jon Benson Award for Best Ability to Positively Impact Wyoming and the $50K EEC Winner Spotlight Presentation Award.
