Law enforcement officers and their canine companions will be on the University of Wyoming campus this week to train and be tested for various certifications.
The UW Police Department (UWPD) and Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP) are among the agencies participating, with a total of 15 K-9 teams involved.
Training and certification sessions are scheduled to take place primarily in the Crane-Hill cafeteria and the recreation fields, mostly Tuesday and Wednesday.
“We wanted to let members of the campus community know about this so they won’t wonder why all of the WHP patrol vehicles are on campus this week,” UWPD Sgt. Chad Bade says. “We would ask people to avoid being spectators, as the certification sessions, in particular, are very sensitive times for the dogs and their handlers.”
