UW Summer Bridge

July 12 - August 9, 2024

Since 2015, the University of Wyoming's Summer Bridge Program has been offering Pokes the chance to forge ahead on their college degree while getting to know the campus and forming new friendships. By participating in Summer Bridge, you will:

  • Earn 6 credits toward graduation (3 credits for Veterans Summer Bridge)
  • Get connected with returning Summer Bridge peer mentors who were once in your shoes
  • Meet dozens of other UW students
  • Live in the residence halls and enjoy delicious offerings of Washakie Dining Center
  • Go on excursions that simultaneously relieve stress and acclimate you to Laramie and its surrounding areas
You will connect with faculty, learn more about the ins and outs of UW, and get crucial advice from peer mentors, tutors, and coordinators. By the time you complete the Summer Bridge, you will be a half a semester closer to graduating. You'll feel like you know the campus better, and you will meet some of the best friends you'll ever have!

Summer Bridge students continue into their sophomore year at a higher rate than peers who did not participate in the program. Summer Bridge is affordable, providing reduced tuition and fees for Wyoming residents.

It doesn't end on the last day of summer! With a fall reunion and an opportunity to stay involved in future sessions of Summer Bridge as a peer mentor, students are asked to help with the planning of social and educational events.

Student Testimonials and Images from Previous Years

  • "The highlight of my summer bridge experience was the connections I made. I find it extremely helpful to already have resources all over campus from the great professors I had to the upper-class peer leaders. Not only this but I was able to build a group within my peers and it makes the actual start of school seem a lot less overwhelming."
  • "The reason I signed up was to knock off six credits of coursework, but the friends I met became my family."
  • "I liked the classes, the small groups, and the tours."
  • "I loved meeting all the people. I was told that when I started the program everyone would become family and oddly enough that happened."
  • "Not only did I get more credits in, but it gave me time to get used to the campus and the community."
  • "Great peer mentors!"
  • "My highlight? All of it. All the activities were very fun and helped me grow closer to my peers and feel more comfortable and confident on campus."
