Install ENVI-IDL version 5.0 SP3 from the UW Network

Note: Functional knowledge and use of this application is the responsibility of the user.


The University of Wyoming provides the ENVI v 5.0 + IDL software package free of charge for installation on UW-owned computers for academic and research use only. In order to install and run the software the computer must be connected to the UW Network. To install ENVI 5.0 SP3 from the UW network, request access through the IT Software Request Form. Once eligibility has been confirmed you will receive an email informing you that access has been granted.


  1. Click the Windows Start button and in the search bar type the following and press Enter:
  2. If prompted with a security warning, click Run.
  3. When prompted to confirm you want to install and that you have Admin rights, click Yes.
  4. At the Welcome screen click Next.
  5. Review the License Agreement and then click on the I Accept the license agreement radio button and then click Next.
  6. Choose the destination location and click Next.
  7. Review the features and select options you want to include and click Next.
  8. Once installation is complete, the ENVI License Wizard window will appear. Click Yes.
  9. In the License Wizard window, select the Install a license you have received radio button and click Next.
  10. Click on Browse to import license file...
  11. In the File name field, type: \\uwapps\envi-v5-sp3$\license.dat and click Open.
  12. Confirmation that your product was successfully licensed will appear. Click Finish.
  13. In the IntallShield Wizard Complete window click Finish.
