The Cost Summary result screen displays costs associated with the power plant as a whole. The costs summarized on this screen are expressed in either constant or current dollars for a specified year, as shown in the Status Bar. The results are presented in a single table.
Each row corresponds to a type of technology, e.g. Base Plant, CO2 Capture, etc. The list of technologies is different for each plant type.
The columns are cost categories, with 2 columns for each category. The categories are:
•Capital Required: The Total Capital Requirement (TCR). This is the money that is placed (capitalized) on the books of the utility on the service date. The total cost includes the total plant investment plus capitalized plant startup. Escalation and allowance for funds used during construction (AFUDC) are also included. The capital cost is given on both a total (M$) and a net power output ($/kW-net ) basis.
•Revenue Required: Amount of money that must be collected from customers to compensate a utility for all expenditures in capital, goods, and services. The revenue requirement is equal to the carrying charges plus expenses. The revenue required is given on both an annualized (M$/yr) and an annualized power output ($/MWh ) basis.
