Honorary Order of the Coif Recipients
College of Law
The Order of the Coif is legal education's national honorary society. The purpose of the Order of the Coif is “to encourage excellence in legal education by fostering a spirit of careful study, recognizing those who as law students attained a high grade of scholarship, and honoring those who as lawyers, judges, and teachers attained high distinction for their scholarly or professional accomplishments.”
Since the University of Wyoming became a Chapter of the Order of the Coif in 1985, membership has been reserved for those students at the top of their class.
In order to recognize graduates from law classes prior to 1985, the University of Wyoming is allowed to select one Honorary Member each year as selected by the faculty. Recipients are chose on their merits as students, scholars, and their legal careers.
