Published December 15, 2025
This year’s entering body of first-year law students is the strongest in University of Wyoming history, with 74 students from a diversity of backgrounds boasting some of the best academic scores the College of Law has seen.
The Class of 2028’s Law School Admission Test scores are the highest on record, with 25th, 50th, and 75th percentile scores of 153, 156, and 160. Average GPAs are also high, with 25th, 50th, and 75th percentile scores of 3.31, 3.53, and 3.76.
In comparison, the Class of 2027’s 25th, 50th, and 75th percentile scores for the LSAT and GPAs were 152, 155, 158, and 3.06, 3.46, 3.72. The Class of 2026’s respective percentile scores for the LSAT and GPAs were 152, 154, 158, and 3.18, 3.51, and 3.81, showing a steadily increasing growth in average scores year over year.
Twenty-nine students in the class hail from Wyoming, and 39 (over 50%) are women. The students come from 40 different undergraduate institutions across 20 different states and represent 32 different majors, including Psychology, Political Science, Nursing, Business Administration, Animal Sciences/Veterinary Medicine, Criminal Justice, English, Construction Engineering, Journalism, Environmental Science, Finance, History, and Mathematics. They speak 10 different languages, including Farsi, Hindi, Spanish, French, Urdu, Italian, German, Russian, Pashto, and American Sign Language.
At 74, the cohort is smaller on entrance than the Class of 2027 (at 77) and 2026 (at 83). Even with lower numbers, there’s no shortage of interesting backgrounds among the students. These 1Ls are rodeo athletes, ranch hands, veterans, teachers, baristas, firefighters, paralegals, fast food workers, delivery drivers, childcare providers, and steelworkers. They count a librarian, fork lift operator, political campaign leader, figure skating instructor, and even a flautist among their numbers.
The Class of 2028 is the youngest class ever admitted to the College of Law, with an average age of 25 years old. The youngest student to ever be admitted to the College of Law is also part of this cohort at only 19 years old.
The faculty and staff at the College of Law look forward to all the Class of 2028 will accomplish in their time at the University of Wyoming.
