Dear Colleagues,

The University of Wyoming Board of Trustees is meeting this week, March 25–27. We discussed many topics during our committee meetings yesterday and the public session today. These topics are important to our campus community, including enrollment and student retention, the upcoming three-year academic calendar, and fundraising priorities in collaboration with the UW Foundation. Thank you to the many faculty, staff, and campus leaders who help prepare materials, presentations, and discussions that support this essential work on behalf of the university. You can catch up on this week’s agenda on the BOT website at this Link

I also want to highlight a new opportunity for faculty and staff through the Center for Principle-Based Leadership and Ethics (PBLE) and the Ellbogen Center for Teaching & Learning (ECTL). Applications are now open for the Ethics in Action: SoTL-Informed Teaching Fellowship for the 2026–2027 academic year. This yearlong fellowship will support participants in developing a one-week, project-based, or experiential learning module that incorporates the Daniels Fund ethical principles into their teaching. Applications are due April 21, and fellows will be announced on May 6. You can apply at this Qualtrics link here.

Several engaging public events are happening this week. The Haub School of Environment and Natural Resources will host its fifth annual Wild and Working Lands Film Festival tonight, Thursday, March 26, at the Gryphon Theatre. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and films start at 7:00 p.m. The event is free and open to everyone and will showcase eight short documentary films about the connections between people and the landscapes where we live, work, and play.

Additionally, the Wyoming Institute for Humanities Research is hosting the 2026 Humanities Summit today and tomorrow, March 26–27, at Coe Library. This year’s summit, Humanities in Action 250, will gather scholars, educators, advocates, and students for discussions about the humanities, public life, and the future of this vital work at UW and beyond. It is also free and open to the public.

Finally, tomorrow, Friday, March 27, UW will welcome prospective students and their families for New Student Day. These visit days are an important part of helping future Cowboys and Cowgirls picture themselves here, and I appreciate all those across campus who help make these experiences meaningful and welcoming for students and their supporters.

Thank you, as always, for the many ways you support our students, your colleagues, and the broader mission of the university.

With appreciation,

Anne
