UW Admissions Requirements

UW welcomes all first-time students to apply and considers each applicant based on academic achievement and completion of the High School Success Curriculum. Students with a cumulative, unweighted high school GPA of 3.00–4.00 (on a 4.0 scale) are assured admission, while those with a GPA of 2.50–2.99 are admitted with support.

High School Success Curriculum:

  • 4 years English
  • 4 years Math
  • 4 years Science
  • 3 years Social Sciences
  • 4 years additional coursework

Transfer students thrive at the University of Wyoming! Transfer students who have obtained at least 12 post-high school transfer credits are eligible for UW's transfer commitments!

Transfer Students Admissions Requirements:

  • Cumulative 2.0 GPA (on an unweighted 4.0 scale)
  • 12 transferable credit hours
  • *If less than 12 transferable credit hours, a high school transcript is required and ACT or SAT score is required if the student is less than 21 years of age.

We want applying to UW to be simple and stress-free. This is an exciting step and it doesn’t have to be complicated! Below are some frequently asked questions to help guide you as you begin your UW admissions process.

The most important item to have on hand is your official high school transcripts. Transcripts will be sent to UW with your application. Beyond that, you’ll want any ACT or SAT scores and documentation of any previous college credits, if applicable.

Currently, an ACT or SAT score is not part of the admissions requirements for the University of Wyoming. However, these scores can help you to earn more financial assistance.

Yes, there is a non-refundable $40 application fee that is processed when you submit your application.
