Dear Colleagues,

I would like to take a moment to highlight some key leadership transitions across Academic Affairs.

First, I’m pleased to share that Dr. Anne Alexander has been appointed Interim Provost, effective August 1. Dr. Alexander brings decades of leadership and service to the University of Wyoming, including previously serving as Interim Provost. She has already begun working closely with our team to ensure a smooth transition.

We also welcome Dr. Carolyn Pepper as Interim Dean of the School of Graduate Education, beginning July 1. Dr. Pepper is a longtime member of the UW faculty and has led major initiatives to support graduate student success. Her leadership will help continue the momentum in graduate education and student support.

Dr. Beth McMillan has been named Interim Director of the School of Computing, starting August 21. Dr. McMillan brings a collaborative leadership style and a strong record of supporting interdisciplinary academic programs. We are grateful for her willingness to step into this important role at a pivotal time for the SoC.

Finally, nominations and recommendations are now open in the search for the next Dean of the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences (CEPS). We invite faculty, staff, students, and community members to provide input through the nomination form here. Your voices are essential in this important search.

Next Friday is the 4th of July, the 249th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. If you are in Laramie on the 4th, I encourage you to visit Washington Park between 10 am – 4 pm for Laramie’s Freedom Has a Birthday celebration. But whatever you are doing to celebrate the 4th, be safe and have fun!

Enjoy the weekend.

Sincerely,

Scott

J. Scott Turpen
