Shelley Dodd named Interim VP for Enrollment Management; Dr. Amanda DeDiego named Acting Dean for UW Casper; UW Board of Trustees meeting
Dear Colleagues,
This week, I am happy to share several key updates from Academic Affairs.
First, I am delighted to announce two leadership appointments:
· Shelley Dodd has been named Interim Vice President for Enrollment Management.
Shelley brings a wealth of experience in enrollment services and student success initiatives,
and I am confident she will provide strong leadership as we continue efforts to support
recruitment and retention. She is a long-time and well respected leader at UW and
I am confident she will excel in this role.
· Dr. Amanda DeDiego has agreed to serve as Acting Dean for UW Casper, effective
August 1. Amanda’s leadership and commitment to UW Casper’s mission will ensure continuity
during this transition period. I appreciate her willingness to step up into this
important position.
We also enter an important week for university governance, as the UW Board of Trustees
is currently holding its July meeting in Beulah, Wyoming. A key discussion yesterday
focused on transfer students and UW’s role within Wyoming’s higher education landscape.
As the state’s flagship and land-grant university, our success depends on strong transfer
partnerships. Currently, transfer students make up 42 percent of UW’s undergraduate
enrollment, with 62 percent of these students coming from Wyoming’s community colleges.
As we work to strengthen these pathways, we remain committed to honoring the unique
role UW plays in providing rigorous academic programs and preparing students for professional
careers and graduate study.
This afternoon, the deans had a meaningful and productive discussion with the Board
of Trustees, focusing on how we can strengthen relationships between the trustees,
the administration, and the colleges around shared priorities and the future of UW.
This conversation highlighted the importance of shared governance and aligned well
with the ongoing efforts of the Trustees’ Shared Governance Working Group, which continues
to meet to advance this vital work. I appreciate the deans engaging in this important
conversation and am appreciative that the Board of Trustees invited this free flowing
discussion to occur.
I am optimistic that we are laying some positive groundwork for continued communication
and collaboration across our campus and with our statewide stakeholders.
Sincerely,
Scott
