A Message from the Provost
August 14 | 2025
Dear Colleagues,
Now in my second week as Interim Provost, I want to thank you for the warm welcome.
It has been a pleasure to reconnect with many of you and meet new colleagues as we
prepare for the start of the semester.
This Friday marks Move-In Day and the start of Saddle Up, our extended orientation
program for first-year students. It's always a special time to see our campus come
alive with new and returning students, and I encourage you to join us in welcoming
them to the UW community. Some members of our Academic Affairs team will participate
in Saddle Up activities, including handing out swag bags on Move-In Day at Washakie
Green and dining with students at the North Hall Dining Center during the week of
August 18–22. If you see us at these events, please stop by and say hello.
All administration and faculty are invited to attend the Saddle Up Convocation in
the Arts & Sciences Auditorium on Friday, August 22, at 4:30 p.m. No regalia is required,
but we encourage you to sit toward the front of the auditorium near the stage. Convocation
is an opportunity to showcase the great work students have accomplished during Saddle
Up and to look ahead to the bright future of our incoming class. Please share this
invitation with your colleagues. Questions can be directed to saddleup@uwyo.edu.
We are also preparing to welcome over 100 new colleagues at New Faculty Orientation
on Tuesday, August 19, and Wednesday, August 20, at the UW Conference Center! In addition
to sessions designed to provide essential information and resources, we have planned
interactive introductions that will help new faculty connect quickly with campus leaders
and peers. These gatherings are an important part of building our academic community,
and I look forward to meeting each of our new faculty members in person.
This week, I also had the pleasure of visiting our colleagues at Sheridan College,
where I met with President Walt Tribley and VP for Academic Affairs Estella Castillo-Garrison.
Our discussion about strengthening partnerships was both productive and inspiring.
Thank you for all you do as we prepare for an engaging and successful year ahead.
With appreciation,
Anne
