A Message from the Provost: Week of 10.27.25

Dear Colleagues,
This week, the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) confirmed successful completion of
our Prison Education Programs in Torrington and Lusk. Both reports affirmed that these
locations are fully in line with HLC standards, and no further monitoring is required.
This is a meaningful milestone for our university's outreach mission and the students
we serve. I want to extend sincere thanks to everyone involved, from our faculty and
staff to our partners at the Wyoming Department of Corrections, for the care and collaboration
in providing opportunity, building confidence, and supporting stronger communities
through education.
I also want to acknowledge the recent announcement from the Employees’ Group Insurance (EGI) program that health insurance rates will increase by about 6.3 percent for calendar year 2026. I know that any increase like this can create stress and financial strain, especially as costs continue to rise in so many areas of daily life. These changes will appear in December 2025 paychecks due to the timing of UW’s payroll cycle. Updated rate tables and EGI’s Benefit Press newsletter are available here if you’d like to review the details. Please know that we understand the real impact of these adjustments and will continue to share information and resources to help employees plan ahead as best as possible.
And finally, a gentle reminder to take good care of yourselves and one another. If you’re feeling run down, rest, hydrate, and give yourself permission to pause. We all do our best work when we’re well and supported.
With appreciation,
Anne
