Congrats Graduates: Where to Next?

graduates of the University of Wyoming celebrate with friends and family

With the University of Wyoming's Spring 2024 commencement just around the corner, I asked some of our graduating Cowboy Coaches what they are looking forward to after graduation, what they will miss about UW and how their college experience has shaped them as a person.

Grant D.

Grant Dillivan

Dual Major in Criminal Justice and Psychology
Minors in Honors and Sociology

What are you most looking forward to after graduation?

“I’m most looking forward to getting to live somewhere new. I grew up in Wyoming, and while I’ll always love my home state, I am very excited to explore new places.”

What will you miss most about UW after you graduate?

“The biggest thing I will miss is the community here. UW has been such a tight-knit and supportive community for me, and I’ll miss running into people I know on campus all the time.”

What are your plans after graduation?

“I will be doing a year long volunteer community health fellowship with the non-profit organization Project Horseshoe Farm. After that, I intend to go to graduate school and obtain my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. After that, I intend on becoming a Correctional Psychologist.”

Is there anything you are worried about after graduation?

I think finding community. Leaving this tight-knit community that I’ve grown so used to is scary, and I am a little worried about finding similar supportive people where I go.”

How has your time at UW shaped you as a person?

“My time here at UW has shaped me in myriad ways. I have had many professional development and research opportunities that have made me more confident and adept in my chosen career field. Furthermore, my time in college has brought along many crucial life lessons that have taught me a lot about myself and about what I want out of life. I’ve grown as a person and professional, and all of that was because of my time here at UW.”

What are you looking forward to about working in your chosen field?

“I’m looking forward to having a positive impact on the prison inmates that I work with, and I look forward to contributing to the rehabilitation of many individuals.”

Hollie B.

Hollie Brockwell

What are you most looking forward to after graduation?

“My dad is going to drive out from Virginia (my home state) to help me move out of my apartment at the end of the summer, and we are making the trip back home an awesome road trip.”

What will you miss most about UW after you graduate?

“The atmosphere/camaraderie of UW. It really feels like one big family. I am also going to really miss all of my friends.”

What are your plans after graduation?

“I have a few summer classes to take, and then I will be applying for an internship for next Spring in Kentucky working with racing Thoroughbred horses focusing on reproduction.”

How has your time at UW shaped you as a person?

“In many ways. I am more independent and confident. I have had to figure a lot of things out on my own being so far away from home, and it has really helped me grow as an adult.”

What are you looking forward to about working in your chosen field?

“I am excited to get to assist in helping support the miracle of life (equine reproduction). Reproduction has taught me how truly precious life is, and I know it will make me feel really good to get to work in helping to ensure healthy babies are born each year.”

Is there anything you are worried about after graduation?

“The only thing that concerns me slightly is the significant change that will occur after graduation. Until now, my life has revolved around school, so facing this major transition is a bit daunting for me.”
