Applied Supply-chain Niche Market Brand Development
Applied Supply-chain Niche Market Brand Development
Faculty Lead(s): Tom Foulke
Tom Foulke is recruiting for an M.S. student to be part of an ongoing applied supply-chain research and economic development project. The goal of the project is to create jobs and enhance incomes in rural Wyoming as well as develop and understand the process and links in creating a supply-chain for niche agricultural products. The project centers around Neolithic brand, a premium quality, wholly UW-owned brand of the ancient grains, emmer wheat and spelt.
Currently, the project is about to complete the supply chain from northwestern Wyoming, to the Front Range of Colorado, growing, processing and shipping grain for use by malters, distillers and brewers. However, to sustain this project at the enterprise level, we need to better understand the market for these grains and their secondary products, to make the chain more robust and increase the awareness of what we are doing.
A student working on this project will be documenting the process and project accomplishments as well as looking ahead to new uses for the products and new opportunities to add to the existing network both within the state of Wyoming and along the Front Range of Colorado. Additional opportunities to do business analysis and forward thinking for the project also exist.
