Minimum requirements for admission are established by the University of Wyoming. Basic requirements are listed below, and can be found here.
MA Applicants: FEBRUARY 15th
PhD Applicants: DECEMBER 1st
The following items must be provided and standards met in order to be admitted to the University of Wyoming:
UW application and fee (submit online at https://www.uwyo.edu/admissions/graduate/index.html)
Bachelor's and/or Master's degree must be from a regionally accredited institution, if earned in the U.S. (If degrees have been earned from an institution outside of the U.S., a transcript evaluation will be done in the Admissions Office to determine if degree is acceptable).
Official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended (not necessary if UW is the most recent institution attended)
A cumulative minimum grade point average of 3.0 (A=4.0) on previous coursework is required for full admission.
Email addresses for three people that will be submitting letters of recommendation are to be entered during online application, at least two of which should be from academic personnel or supervisors
The following requirements are established by the Anthropology Department. We prefer that these be met. Information regarding these requirements can be found in the General Bulletin.
MA applicants should have completed introductory level coursework in all 4 subfields of anthropology (socio/cultural anthropology, bio/physical anthropology, archaeology, and linguistics). Deficiencies in anthropology coursework may require remediation.
MA and PhD applicants should have completed 1 statistics course; deficiencies will require remediation.

Send official TOEFL Scores to the Admissions office (school code is 4855; locate your departmental codes here). A minimum score of 540 on the written exam, or 76 on the Internet-based test is required for full admission. We will also accept official IELTS scores. A minimum score of 6.0 is required for full admission. This process is normally not required for applicants from an English-speaking country or those who are attending UW within 1 year following completion of a degree from a U.S. institution. NOTE: TOEFL scores are valid for two years from the test date. To request scores be sent to UW, visit the TOEFL site.
