Post Undergraduate Assistantship

The Department of Visual Arts does not have a graduate program, but we have been very successful in sending senior studio art students to competitive art MFA programs throughout the country. One of the most successful programs we have is the Post Undergraduate Assistantship. Senior graduating students can apply for a Post Undergraduate Assistantship (PUA) for the year following graduation. Each PUA is provided with studio space, access to equipment throughout the Visual Arts facility, and faculty mentorship. In return, each PUA is asked to assist/help with studio maintenance and assist in beginning classes, like a TA. All students who do take on the PUA are very successful in their applications to graduate school because this opportunity allows them the time to refine and see real progress within their personal portfolio work.
