About

Debra Littlesun is the Assistant Director at the University of Wyoming Art Museum. Previously, she was Associate Director of Scholarships & Program Coordinator for Diversity Initiatives in the Office of Scholarships & Financial Aid. She represents the Art Museum on the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council for Leadership and the President’s Advisory Council on Native American Affairs at UW. Debra volunteered as Advisor for Keepers of the Fire, the oldest registered student organization (RSO) on campus from 2014-2019; Awarded RSO Advisor of the Year in 2018. Prior to coming to UW, Littlesun was Director of Scholarships for the American Indian College Fund in Denver, Colorado. She began her career in higher education in 2001 in Financial Aid at Chief Dull Knife College, where she became the Director in 2005. Debra is responsible for the financial management of the art museum activities but most enjoys the work she gets to do when called on by the curators for historical information related to the objects from Native American Tribes. She has respect for museums as a medium for teaching while continuing to explore ways to use objects to teach people to view culture through a different lens, and to encourage growth and collaboration on campus and with the community.
