Sterling "Stoney" Smith is the Chief Preparator at the University of Wyoming Art Museum and holds a BFA in ceramics from UW. In addition to being a ceramist, Stoney enjoys woodworking, metal fabrication and photography.
Stoney is a 4th generation Wyoming native and combines his familial experience of homesteading, house-moving, carpentry and excavation with his passion for art in his daily work. In his tenure at the Art Museum, he's installed more than 400 exhibitions and off-site installations and has been privileged to work directly with artists such as James Surls, Jun Kaneko, Patrick Dougherty, Judy Pfaff, Al Farrow, and Hung Liu.
