Collin Parson's Interference

Denver-based artist Collin Parson is interested in the interplay between color, light, shape, and form. As an artist and curator, he has observed that people often spend only a few moments viewing an artwork. Parson questions, “Are they actually experiencing it or just briefly glancing?” By combining light, color, and space Parson invites the viewer to slow down, giving them the opportunity to become part of the piece rather than only looking at it. This experience extends beyond the sense of sight into the space that both the work and the viewer occupy. Three seemingly separate artworks are situated in three separate Art Museum locations: the Lobby, Terrace, and Rotunda. They are interconnected as they create a moiré through the line, space, light, and color of each.

Funded through the generosity of the UW Board of Trustees’ Strategic Projects Funds and the Susan Moldenhauer FUNd for Contemporary Art
