Greetings Staff and Faculty of the College of Arts and Sciences,
Congratulations on wrapping up another great fall semester. Winter Commencement is tomorrow, and I look forward to being there and celebrating our graduating students. This last weekend, I had the pleasure of attending one of the Music Department’s Holiday Gala Concerts, which is always a wonderful way to begin the holiday season.
Earlier this week, Dr. Allison Caine delivered this year’s Sandeen Lecture in the Humanities. Her lecture was titled “The Herder’s Laboratory: Indigenous Climate Science in the Peruvian Andes.”
On Tuesday, A&S staff gathered for a holiday party, where the Staff Extraordinary Merit Award winners were recognized. Award recipients included Michala Drum, Cheryl Hamilton, Clayleen Rivord, Eric Smith, Tina Mathews, Seth Holmquist, and Aaron Sciulli. If you see them, please tell them congratulations. Thank you to all of the staff who keep the college running – we couldn’t do what we do without your hard work.
Additionally, the College of A&S recently received “The Bold Goal” Giving Day Award. This was a result of all the hard work each department put into their campaigns. Congratulations to all!
Finally, I want to thank all of those that put their hat in the ring for Interim Associate Dean – it’s important to have strong leadership in the college. I’m happy to announce that after consideration from the executive committee, Dr. Eric Wodahl will start in January as Interim Associate Dean. We are excited to have him as part of the team.
I’m sure many of you still have a great deal of work to do, but I hope you’re all able to take some time to recharge before the spring semester. This will be the last weekly address before next semester.
I hope everyone has a great break and enjoys the holidays!
Sincerely,
Adrienne Freng
