Greetings Staff and Faculty of the College of Arts and Sciences,
It has been an extremely busy couple weeks of travel for me. Last week, I spent 3 days in Gillette where I visited the Rock Pile Museum, the Camplex, and met with members of the City Council, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Chief of Police. In these meetings, we discussed future college collaborations centered around new paid internships and prospects for our graduates starting careers and businesses in Gillette and Northeast Wyoming. I also met with the President of Gillette College, Janel Oberlander. She is an excellent leader of this new college. We discussed transfer students and collaborations between our institutions. I ended my visit with a live interview on the local radio station Bison Radio.
This week, I am in Sheridan for the Board of Trustees meeting at the Neltje Center. Prior to the meeting, I visited Sheridan College and met with Dean Sarah Sinclair to discuss curricular articulation and transfer relations. The Board of Trustees meeting began with a good discussion with Wyoming Legislators. It was useful for both sides to share perspectives on UW. During the Board meeting, I was involved in the discussion on the strategic enrollment plan, and we also provided an update on increased activities at the Neltje Center. It has been a great opportunity show off the Neltje Center and highlight the great work being done.
I hope your summer is going well.
Most sincerely,
J. Scott Turpen
