Greetings Staff and Faculty of the College of Arts and Sciences,
Good morning, and happy Friday! I hope everyone is enjoying the summer so far.
If you saw the May Monthly Newsletter, you’ll have read that the College of Arts & Sciences has launched the “Oliver Walter Dean’s Excellence Fund," which celebrates Dr. B. Oliver Walter’s tenure and legacy as former dean of the college.
For four decades, Ollie served the students, staff, and faculty of the College of A&S as an academic and administrator. The college is recognizing Ollie’s significant contributions to UW by establishing the Oliver Walter Dean’s Excellence Fund, which will provide a flexible pool of dollars for the dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and will allow the college to respond quickly to emerging opportunities, to pursue strategic initiatives, and to invest in areas where the need is greatest and the potential for success is high.
It's exciting to celebrate and honor Ollie with this fund, and I look forward to all the opportunities it’s going to create for our college in the future. I, like many of you, know Ollie well. He helped make A&S a great college. If you wish to honor Ollie’s legacy, please consider contributing to this fund and share the link with individuals you think may be interested in giving: www.uwyo.edu/walterfund.
Most sincerely,
J. Scott Turpen
