Dean's Weekly Address

Greetings Staff and Faculty of the College of Arts and Sciences,

Last week, I was in San Francisco for a CASE conference titled “Development for Deans & Academic Leaders.” I attended with the college’s Major Gift Officer, Faryn Babbitt. The conference provided great strategies for fundraising, and Faryn and I came away with good new ideas to help achieve the college’s fundraising goals.

Last Friday I also attended the Governor’s Arts Awards in Cheyenne. This is an important event that brings leaders from across the state together to celebrate the achievements of individuals associated with the arts in Wyoming. It was a valuable evening of conversations and celebration.

On Saturday I attended the UW Art Museum Juried Student Exhibition Award Ceremony. It was great fun seeing all our students’ excellent art. The Dean’s Office purchased a wonderful student piece that will be proudly displayed in our office.

Be sure to keep your eye on A&S social media – it’s that time in the semester where many great achievements are taking place within the college, as well as many upcoming events to look forward to.
