Dean's Weekly Address

Greetings Staff and Faculty of the College of Arts and Sciences,

As you likely know, the old Central Position Management (CPM) process, where vacant faculty positions are collected and redistributed by Academic Affairs, is coming to an end. Colleges will now oversee allocating faculty positions. While this is a good thing in general, it does come with challenges as we develop new processes. This week the college received faculty position requests from department heads. The A&S Central Committee will review those requests, meet with each department head, and provide suggested ranking to me in early April. We plan and hope to be able to be able to allocate positions in late spring or early summer so faculty searches can begin early next academic year.

You may have noticed that the College of Arts and Sciences homepage has been redesigned! This transition helped us streamline information, update the overall aesthetic, and make our site more user-friendly. With the redesign, we were also able to implement a new calendar feature. Stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks about how you can submit your departments’ events to be displayed on the A&S website.
