Greetings Staff and Faculty of the College of Arts and Sciences,
This week’s address will focus on faculty position allocations for the college. We can make this announcement many months earlier than in past years. Below you will find the A&S allocation of faculty positions that will be searched this Fall 2024 to begin their position in the Fall of 2025. With the elimination of CPM, allowing colleges to manage our own positions, we were able to allocate more positions than anticipated. While we were not able to fund all requests, I am pleased we are able to allocate this number of positions. Special thanks to the A&S Central Committee who provided the initial ranking for consideration. This committee’s input was crucial and influential for determining the final list.
I ask that department heads and search committee members move thoroughly, but expeditiously, through the search process. I expect search committees to complete searches before the end of 2024, if possible. We have more success hiring excellent candidates when we complete searches early in the hiring season.
Many factors and data were considered to determine this list that include: number of majors, credit hours generated, class sizes (including under enrolled), growth potential, faculty/student ratios, curricular needs, teaching loads, among many others.
